Keep your sking Youthful

One of the greatest ironies of life is the fact that the young want to grow old quickly while the old are trying their best to stay young. So if you happen to be those individuals who are growing old and wish to look young and beautiful, it is important that you follow a simple skin care routine regularly to experience successful results. Take a look at some of these simple skin care tips listed below in this guide.

**Cleansing

Cleaning your skin properly plays a vital role in helping your skin stay healthy. Start your cleaning routine by removing all traces of make up from your skin using a cotton ball and moisturizing cream. Splashing luke warm water on your face will help open pores for deep skin cleaning. Gently rub a non- comedogenic, soap free mild cleanser gently with your fingers in an upward direction. Avoid scrubbing hard as it could damage your skin.

Massage the face wash on your skin for about a minute. This will help remove all the dirt, pollutants, and bacteria or make up residue from your skin, thereby cleaning it thoroughly. Rinse your face at least three times to help remove all residues that can tend to block pores. Using an alcohol free toner on your skin after patting your skin dry will help reduce the size of pores to a great extent. We recommend a natural kiwi-based facial cleanser. See resource box below.

**Use Soap Sparingly

Applying soap on selected areas of your body such as your face, feet, underarms groin and buttocks will not only help clean the required areas thoroughly, but will also prevent stripping of natural skin oils from the other areas, thereby helping your skin stay soft and supple.

**Moisturize

Moisturizing your skin after cleaning and toning plays a vital role in helping replenishing all the necessary skin oils that are removed during the cleaning process. Applying the moisturizer for about three to five minutes before starting your make up will help the skin to absorb the moisture thoroughly and also help your makeup last longer. Using moisturizers that can contains aloe vera, pure vitamin E and least amount of harsh additives can prove to be highly beneficial proving an intensive moisture treatment for your skin in a positive manner.

**TIP

Spraying or splashing cold water on your face before make up will not only allow less space for cosmetics or pollutants to enter smaller pores, but will also help makeup glide on seamlessly in a successful manner.

**Use Cosmetic Products Appropriately

Using a toner serum or other different products such as a moisturizer or sunscreen before applying makeup can go a long way in allowing the cosmetic products to be absorbed well into the skin, thereby helping these products deliver the required results.

**Be Careful Not To Get Too Much Sun

The fact that the UV rays can damage skin to a great extent, protecting your skin by using sunshades your car can help protect your skin to a great extent.

6 Factors Causes Cellulit

Many of us are cursed with cellulite. Sometimes it seems to appear out of nowhere, causing dimples and fatty deposits under our skin. So why is it that some of us do all the right things yet get loads of cellulite all over our bodies, while others seemingly do nothing and have totally cellulite-free bodies their entire lives? It seems downright unfair.

In the world of cellulite, there are many factors at play when and if it decides to develop on your body. Factors include your genes, fat distribution, and lifestyle. Cellulite is something that develops over time, and something that, given the circumstances, can be prevented. Keep reading to learn more about the causes of cellulite.

Genetics

Genetics play a huge factor in cellulite development. Just like how genetics play a big role in how tall we are, or how dark our skin is, genetics also determine our bodies' natural predisposition to developing cellulite. Some experts even claim that that a skin biopsy taken on a newborn can determine that persons likelihood of developing cellulite due to certain fibrous bands along the septa.

Hormones

One of the biggest causes for cellulite growth in teen age children is due to hormones. Estrogen is believed to be responsible for cellulite growth in the teen years, in addition to thyroid and other hormones. In addition to the teen years, cellulite growth due to hormones can also happen during menopause, pregnancy, and even when contraceptive birth control pills are used.

Gender

It's widely known that cellulite is more common in women than men. The reason for this is because of the abundance of cellulite growth-causing hormones. However, in addition to this, men have a different structure to their connective tissues than women do, which is in a crisscross fashion making the connective tissues strong and taut. It's this crisscross connection that makes cellulite development difficult, therefore many men do not suffer from its ill effects. As women age, their connective tissue begins to lose its elasticity and begins to sag, which means that cellulite growth increases over time as well.

Fat Distribution

Where women have fatty deposits around the legs and waist area - for childbearing reasons - men do not. This makes these zones prime growth areas for cellulite, because the tissue is soft and susceptible to cellulite growth.

Diet

It's widely known that a poor diet contributes to weight gain. As we eat foods rich in salt, fat, carbs, and low fiber, our bodies predisposition to building up cellulite ramps up, causing it to form in areas under our arms, in our waist, things, and around our legs and ankles. In addition to dietary issues, a lack of water is also of concern in creating unwanted cellulite buildup. Cellulite is a combination of fat, toxins, and water, and by drinking enough water you flush those unwanted fats and toxins out of your system, and prevent cellulite in the process.

Lifestyle

If you're sitting around a lot throughout the day, you're automatically promoting cellulite growth. The less mobile you are, the more irregular sleep patterns you have, and the more stress you have all contribute to cellulite growth. By clearing this stuff out of your life - by getting enough exercise, reducing the stress, and habitually sleeping longer, you'll promote a healthy body free of cellulite.

Weight Loss Motivation

When it comes to losing weight it seems like the only way you are successful is if you have some powerful weight loss motivation. Just kind of wanting to lose weight doesn't seem to get the job done. Motivation can come in many different forms but let's take a look at three of the main weight loss motivations we run into.

The first weight loss motivation is a particular event. People often try to lose some weight before their wedding or a high school reunion. There are many different programs on the market that will help get you to your ideal weight for a particular event as long as the amount of weight you want to lose is reasonable for the amount of time you have to lose that weight. These products and your attitude may not be a great combination for long-term success. If your focus was on the event then your motivation to stay that size might be gone with the passing of time.

The second weight loss motivation people have is to get their loved ones off of their back. Whether your husband doesn't like your post-pregnancy body or your children are telling you that you are too unhealthy, you are trying to lose weight to make other people happy. Sometimes when your motivation is to please others, you actually lose weight and are happy with the results. Most of the time; however, you lose weight until they quit talking about it and then the weight comes back on.

The final weight loss motivation is self-motivation. You want to lose weight to please only yourself. If someone else is happy about it, that is just a bonus. Maybe you realize how unhealthy being overweight is and you don't want to burden your family with the cost of being overweight. Maybe you are looking at health concerns that you would rather not deal with and weighing less is the answer. It might even be that you are just ready to be a smaller size. Whatever your personal reason is for wanting to lose weight, it is the only true weight loss motivation that will keep you on track for long-term weight management.

Once you have had an issue with your weight, it will most likely always be a problem. That doesn't mean that you will always be overweight or have your weight yo-yo. What it does mean is that your weight loss motivation will have to become motivation to remain in a certain weight range. The scale will always be part of your bathroom décor and you will need to visit it regularly to keep yourself from gaining too much weight and ending up where you started. It really requires a lifestyle change instead of diet products. If you are ready to make a change in your life you can seek out the right plan for you and since you have the right

Body And Soul - Keep Them Together

LET'S START WITH THE BODY . . .

H E A L T H

It is said that the first thing a man does when he wakes in the morning is to look out of the window to see how the weather has changed overnight, and the first thing a women does on waking is to look in the mirror to see what the night has done to her face. Enough said ... but if your look in the mirror is followed by 'Oh, my God ... I could do with a face-lift, etc. etc.' (don't worry, we've all been there) before you start layering on more make-up and deciding to embark yet again on another diet/exercise regime (which will probably have been forgotten anyway by the weekend), let's stop wishing, and start by trying to make the best of what we have got.

We may not be able to recapture the healthy glow of youth, but we may be able to inject a little sparkle by giving as much thought to the inside of our bodies as we do to the outside. Just think of what would happen to a house if it were not built on firm foundations. Also how would our cars run if we filled them up with the wrong fuel? Similarly, how can we expect our bodies to function smoothly if we just worry about the paintwork and not concentrate on the engine? So analyse what you are putting into your body. Is it mainly 'comfort/grab-a-snack - I'm in a hurry' food, eg buns, crisps, chocolates etc., or is it nourishing food with all the vitamins and minerals the body requires to operate efficiently?

Many moons ago, a colleague of mine, who had a connection with a pharmaceutical company, said the idea had been muted within the company that as the elderly often start the day with a cup of tea and digestive biscuit, then a good way of ensuring that they receive all the necessary vitamins and minerals was to add them to the digestive biscuit It seemed a great idea, but when you think of how we absentmindedly dip into a packet of biscuits, then we would probably overdose on vitamins. Although we need vitamins we can also have too much of a good thing. It is worth remembering that whereas the body will expel too much of say Vitamin C, the body will store Vitamins A & D and an overload of these vitamins can have a detrimental effect. So leave it to the experts to get the balance right. It is better to start the day (together with your nourishing breakfast) with a good multi-vitamin and mineral tablet. The tablet container will show the RDA (which stands for the 'recommended daily allowance'), and it will also show how the tablet equates with this.

A good multi-vitamin and mineral supplement is the Holland & Barrett's

Formula for the 50 PLUS called ABC PLUS SENIOR (on half-price offer at the present time).

Another supplement I would recommend for those of us whose memory is not what it used to be is 'Ginkgo Biloba'. (Also on half-price offer at the moment). This has been in use for years on the continent as an aid to improving the circulation. It is said that it not only improves the supply of blood to the head and subsequently improves the memory (so hopefully we'll remember where we put the bottle of tablets) but it also improves the blood supply to the extremities, which is great if you suffer from cold hands and feet. Ginkgo, by the way, comes from the Ginkgo tree, which is one of the oldest trees known to man. You can therefore appreciate how vital it is that we do not allow plants to become extinct.

Remember the old wives' tale that 'fish is good for the brain'? (When I hear this saying, my mind always goes back to a lecturer jokingly saying that his mother was determined that he would do well and always made him eat fish before an examination, and, of course, to her delight he did do well). Well, now it has been proved that Omega 3 (pure fish oils) not only benefits the brain but the whole body. It is high in essential fatty acids, which help to maintain a healthy heart and circulation.

Another very good supplement is Selenium. This was naturally present in the earth and in our vegetables years ago, but sadly has become depleted over the years with intensive farming and chemicals. So we can put back this missing ingredient. I certainly felt a difference on taking this as a supplement.

Now, if you are prone to numerous infections, coughs, colds, etc., then your immune system needs a boost. In addition to the usual Vitamin C, a couple of good supplements for this are Zinc and Echinacea. It's a good idea to take Echinacea well before the 'flu time' is upon us in order to get it into the system.

We have always known the importance of making sure that we have enough calcium in order to maintain bone strength, but it is only in the past few years that Glucosamine has come to the fore as an aid to the joints. Glucosamine is believed to stimulate cartilage growth and prevent it wearing down and hopefully reducing the subsequent pain. I have a friend who swears this has helped her painful joints. Chondroitin is often added to the Glucosamine as this helps to attract fluid into the cartilage Healthy Direct (www.healthydirect.co.uk) has a special offer on this powerful combination of Glucosamine, Chondroitin and Vitamin C. They also operate a free postage and packing with prompt delivery service, which is great if you have difficulty in getting to the shops.

Notice that throughout I have been using the word 'supplement' as no tablets are going to replace a healthy diet. I remember being told by a doctor when I was in my twenties that the way towards a healthy life was to eat a small amount of a wide variety of foods and that way the body would obtain the necessary vitamins and nourishment. Whilst I agree with the 'variety' advice, I am not sure with the present day treatment and overlong storage of foodstuffs (particularly fruit and vegetables) whether there are many vitamins left by the time they reach the table. It came as a shock to hear at one lecture that when they tested an orange for its Vitamin C content, the results came back as a surprising 'nil'. Still to end on a happy note, the fibre content was there, and we must eat plenty of FRESH fruit and vegetables not only for the vitamins but also for the fibre and enzymes necessary for the digestive process to function properly. But more on that - together with a breakdown of all the essential vitamins and my favourite subject - FOOD - (I'll try not to think about or mention chocolate cake)

IT'S ... 'HOLD-BACK-THE-YEARS' FOOD ...... next time

Looking forward to chatting to you again and also looking forward to hearing from you ...

6 Fun Fitness Activities

Exercising and staying fit doesn't have to mean hard work. Simply being active will help you get or stay in good shape. So with that said, here are some enjoyable activities that can help with your fitness goals too.

Bicycling

When you ask many adults when the last time they rode a bike is, they cannot answer. Although bicycling is a favorite pastime, many adults do not take advantage of this great option for exercise. Not only does bike riding exercise the body and build a stronger cardiovascular system, it allows you to get out and enjoy nature, fresh air, and see new sites.

Jogging or Walking

Both jogging and walking are GREAT ways to get fit. Not only do they tone the muscles, relieve stress, create a healthier heart, and improve lung capability, they make you look wonderful, which in turns helps you get excited about doing other exercise for fitness activities.

Swimming

Swimming is an excellent way to get into and stay in shape. If you do not own a pool, many high schools have aquatic centers, or there is always the YWCA or YMCA, or your local gym. Many offer water aerobic classes that will help you tighten your body, lose weight, and get a good overall workout.

Tennis Anyone?

Tennis is not only a fun sport, but also a great way to exercise. You do not have to be a Venice Williams to play; in fact, you do not even have to be good. Just running after the ball alone will help get you into shape. This is a great way to strengthen your cardiovascular system and lose weight. You can find tennis courts in just about every city and if you would like to play but have no idea how, lessons are reasonable.

Tip: Raquetball is sort of a "one person tennis". If you don't have someone to play tennis with, or you aren't feeling sociable, try raquetball instead.

Dancing

Dancing is so much fun and whether you enjoy a slow, Ballroom dance or a nightclub packed with people all moving to heart-pumping techno, as long as you are moving, it really does not matter what type of dance or music. The whole idea is to move your body. Dancing has long been recommended as an avenue to fitness.

Tip: Belly Dancing is an excellent workout for your stomach, waist and hips ladies!

VCR

If you have a VCR or DVD, rather than just using it for your favorite comedy or action-packed movie, try sticking in some good workout tapes. Even taking 15 minutes every day to work out will get you started. Try that for two weeks and you will be surprised at the results. Once you see that 15 minutes a day makes a difference, you will be encouraged to increase the time spent.

And one of my personal favorites... Yardwork!

Whether you're pulling weeds, planting flowers, mowing the grass or chopping wood: All of these activities can help you get into better shape. Don't cheat yourself though. Using a riding mower to cut the grass won't help you use the muscles or get your blood pumping ;)

So go out and get active, have fun, and work on getting or staying fit too!

Increase Energy

Being tired in fast becoming the new 20th century disease. According to the book 'The 28Day Plan' lack of energy can be attributed to: a bad diet, overindulgence in alcohol, lack of sleep and smoking. Plus we know that stress can zap our energy and leave us feeling tired. So how can we get more energy into our life?

One of the best ways to increase your energy is to eat energy producing foods such as porridge, muesli, fish, poultry, lean lamb, bananas, dried fruit, fresh fruit, fresh vegies, baked potatoes, wholemeal foods, fresh juices, water, Soya milk, seeds and nuts. Foods to limit are coffee, tea, cows cheese, beef/pork, sugary foods, pastries, biscuits, chips, white flour foods, fizzy drinks and chocolate (oh no!).

Other tips in the 28-Day Plan book to raise and restore energy are:

(1). Hibernation-take 20 minutes a day for quiet time. Think about no one and nothing. Lie down, listen to some favourite music or close your eyes and drift off to a beautiful island.

(2). Breath-Spend 5 minutes doing some deep breathing. Sit on the floor in comfortable clothes. Close your eyes and slowly breathe in through your nose, hold for a count of five and slowly exhale to a count of 5.

(3). Laugh-Have a good belly laugh. Watch a funny video or tell a funny joke. Refer back to my last newsletter for more tips.

(4). Sleep-Most of us realise we need 8 hours of sleep for the most benefit. Some other tips are to sleep with the window slightly open (be security conscious too). Have a firm supportive mattress and sufficient pillows. Eat at least 5 hours before going to bed. Go to bed the same time each night. Relax before bed.

(5). Pamper yourself-Go out and treat yourself to a beautiful bunch of flowers (or pick some from your garden). Have a massage, give yourself a facial or bubble bath, and go out for herbal tea with a friend.

(6). Do some stretching and flexing of your body at the start of each day.

(7). Exercise for 30 minutes each day. Some exercise ideas are: walking, jogging, cycling, skipping, bouncing (trampoline), swimming, cleaning and gardening. Have a health check before starting any exercise program.

Dont Smoke If u Wanna Health Life

Is there any adventure or fun in smoking? Absolutely not! Don't be fooled by the fun packed advertisements of the cigarette making companies. There is no "taste", no "fun" and no "adventure" in smoking cigarettes. These are just the slogans of the cigarette making companies which are multiplying their profits at the cost of the precious human lives.

The greedy multi-national multi-billion dollar cigarette manufacturers are killing people quietly without being noticed by anyone. According to the WHO report, every 6.5 seconds a person in the world dies prematurely due to cancer, heart attack, respiratory or some other kind of tobacco related diseases. No doubt, the tobacco is the fourth most common risk factor for diseases worldwide.

If you are a smoker then think seriously for a moment and decide whether you are mentally OK. I very much doubt because you are spending money on the purchase of an item which is not only risking your life by unintentionally inviting numerous diseases to attack your body but also risking the lives of other people who are forced to inhale second hand smoke, which is more dangerous than smoking. If you smoke inside your house then you also risk the life of your spouse and children. Is it a wise decision to keep on smoking?

Say no to smoking, if you want to live a normal healthy life free from diseases. Why not take a bold decision NOW and quit smoking immediately! Are you prepared to do so?

Tobacco use is going to kill nearly 10 million people each year, mostly in their productive middle ages. It is estimated that 75% of these deaths will occur in the developing countries mainly due to the high number of smokers and lack of medical facilities available there.

Due to lack of knowledge and education, the number of smokers in the developing countries and poor households is increasing at an alarming rate. The warning written on the cigarette packets is mostly ignored by the illiterate smokers. It is sad that the average amount spent by poor households on tobacco is nearly the same as the amount spent on education. A recent study in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil has proved that the more people are educated, the less they smoke.

Stop Sweats

As many as one in 100 individuals across the UK suffer from severe excessive sweating or hyperhidrosis, according to the clinical paper Boni R. in Kreydon OP, Boni R, Burg G (eds); Hyperhidrosis and Botulinum Toxin in Dermatology. Many more people suffer from mild or moderate forms of the medical condition.

If you're one of those unlucky individuals afflicted with the embarrassing condition and are familiar with clammy handshake syndrome or underarm perspiration overload then don't get in a sweat about it! Thanks to an established treatment offered by SWEAT BREAKER, specialist in the provision of non-surgical procedures for excessive sweating, help is at hand to wipe out the problem.

Founded by respected consultant surgeon, Mr Adrian Richards, the company is committed to treating excessive sweating in localised areas including armpits, hands, feet, head and face. The straightforward procedure, in the form of Botox® injections, is highly effective and will keep excessive sweating under control. The virtually pain free process involves injecting a tiny amount of Botox® solution just under the skin, in approximately ten to 15 different sites, at 1cm intervals, using a very fine needle (the same type of needle that is used for premature babies). All in all, the treatment takes only 10 minutes, its effects last on average of seven months and results can be expected in a little as three days.

Botox® treatment has been used successfully for over 20 years and is backed by extensive clinical trials, with over 1400 medical research papers showing it to be safe. The treatment, which is administered by a highly trained medical practitioner, works by blocking the action of nerves that supply the eccrine glands, preventing them from producing sweat.

Prior to the treatment, a dedicated team of highly trained staff will talk you through the procedure whilst a medical practitioner will assess you in order to ensure that you are a suitable candidate for the treatment.

"Hyperhidrosis is a genetic condition which blights many people's lives and often has a profound effect on self esteem and confidence levels," commented Mr Adrian Richards, MSc, FRCS (Plas) Consultant Plastic and Cosmetic Surgeon. "Traditionally, the only solutions available for excessive sweating have included strong antiperspirant deodorants, topical applications of aluminium chloride and, in severe cases, invasive and extensive surgery such as curettage involving scraping out the eccrine glands - a mutilating, potentially dangerous and incredibly painful procedure with varying results. I am delighted to be in a position to offer sufferers a simple, safe, effective and proven non-surgical procedure that will eradicate the problems for months at a time."

Like it or not, we all have to sweat in order to maintain a regular body temperature. If your body is too hot, blood vessels dilate to let more blood reach the skin, where the blood cools. Then sweat glands produce more sweat, and that evaporates to cool the skin. But for many people, sweating doesn't just occur when the body overheats. Exercise, stressful situations, anxiety, even alcohol, or spicy food can trigger hyperhidrosis. In extreme cases, excessive sweating can occur regardless of an individual's situation or state-of-mind. What's more, concern over the condition breeds sweating.

What Have Water ?

Threats to our drinking water are increasing due to our aging water system infrastructure and increased pollutants invading our water sources. Because the source of our drinking water varies, the treatment it receives before coming to our tap also varies. For these reasons, we can no longer take the safety of our drinking water for granted.

Some of the more common natural sources of pollution include:

microorganisms; underlying rock; nitrates and nitrites; heavy metals found in underground rock that contains arsenic, cadmium, chromium, lead, and selenium; and fluoride. Human Activities causing pollution include: bacteria and nitrates from human and animal wastes, septic tanks and large farms; heavy metals from mining construction, and older fruit orchards; fertilizers and pesticides; industrial products and wastes from local factories, industrial plants, gas stations, dry cleaners, leaking underground storage tanks, landfills and waste dumps; household wastes such as cleaning solvents, used motor oil, paint, paint thinner, pharmaceuticals (discarded medications flushed down the toilet); lead and copper; hormones passed into the system through waste.

Most of us are familiar with problems caused by ecoli in the water or problems caused by lead poisoning, but not much is heard about problems from hormones or medications that make their way back into our drinking water. In truth, little is known about the long term effects of pharmaceutical contamination.

Hormones fed through the system can create a variety of problems. A study done in the UK found that high concentrations of female hormones (from women using contraceptive pills) were changing the sex of approximately half of all male fish and possibly affected male fertility. Other studies have shown antidepressants can trigger premature spawning in shellfish while drugs designed to treat heart ailments block the ability of fish to repair damaged fins.

If a water supplier determines that drinking water has been contaminated, they are required to inform their customers of any violations within 24 hours. It should be noted that in 2001, one out of every four community water systems did not conduct testing or report the results of testing which could lead to problems that are undetected.

The EPA uses a generalized standard for measuring contamination of our water which can put some groups in jeopardy. Children and infants, the frail and elderly, and pregnant women and their unborn babies can face a greater risk to infection. Others who are undergoing chemotherapy, living with HIV/AIDS, and transplant patients also faced an increased risk.

One contaminate that concerns me the most is nitrate. Nitrate is generally found in fertilizer and puts infants at immediate risk when it exceeds the national standard levels. An excess of nitrate in an infants system can cause "blue baby syndrome" which can be fatal without immediate medical attention. It has been recommended that infants, young children, nursing mothers, pregnant women and certain elderly people use extreme caution.

Families using well water as their primary water source are not subject to regulation by the EPA and therefore face a considerably greater risk. Although a water filtration system can be helpful, many serious problems can only be found by testing and go unnoticed.

What can you do about it? Using a home water filtration system can help, but you will need to do your homework. There are many different types of filtration systems available and each has it's advantages and disadvantages. In June of 1998, CNN published an article referencing a study done by The Center for Environmental Health which used 16 different brands of water filtration systems which showed that six brands produced water that exceeded the limit for lead, with two (one made by Franke Inc. of Pennsylvania and Omni Corporation of Indiana) generated water with readings substantially higher than the limit.

Treat Depression Natyrally

Have you ever noticed how commercials for antidepressants spend more time talking about the potential side effects of their drugs than the alleged benefits? And it's not just one or two specific drugs, either. Every single one on the air rambles on about serious side effects. How in the world are you supposed to trust an antidepressant will make you feel better if its potential side effects include "feelings of hopeless" or "thoughts of suicide?" Aren't those the very things you're trying to avoid? Turning to antidepressants manufactured in a lab is the conventional solution to a complex problem. It's a lot like trying to nail a thumbtack into a wall with a sledgehammer because the treatment isn't customized to the patient's unique needs, and going that route can lead to a lot of unintended consequences. If you're concerned about your depression but skeptical about the conventional approach, you may feel like you don't have anywhere else to turn. Fortunately, you have other options at your disposal! Instead of accepting the big hit to your pocketbook and a dizzying array of potential side effects, you can treat your depression with all-natural solutions. Natural treatments for depression have been around for thousands of years. This approach is relatively inexpensive, effective, and absent of any negative side effects. It is also highly customizable, meaning that you have the option to expand or limit the scope of treatment to best suit your body's unique depression symptoms. Natural treatments are well suited to treat depression because the causes of the condition aren't fully understood. To this day, scientists and researchers haven't been able to pinpoint one particular reason why one person is depressed and another isn't. A whole combination of factors, including past abuse, use of certain medications, genetics, conflict, loss, major life events, and substance abuse are to blame. Because you face such a complicated condition, overhauling your life to become healthier (instead of relying on a magic pill) is your best bet to eliminate your depression for good. If you're ready to jump in with this holistic approach, here are some things you can do to get started with your natural treatments: Add natural supplements to your diet. Hands down, this is the most straightforward step you can take to start seeing massive results. For moderate cases of depression, adding the supplements listed below might be all you need to start feeling better soon: · DHEA · DHA · SAMe · Flaxseed Oil · Vitamin B · Vitamin D Overhaul your diet. Now that you've taken care of your supplements, the next step is to evaluate your current diet and make some changes, if necessary. First and foremost, cut out as many processed foods as possible. Then replace sugars and grains, which cause cravings and can throw your blood sugar out of whack, with vegetables and healthy sources of protein. Implement an exercise regimen. If you aren't getting any regular exercise, you need to make this change. You don't have to start going to the gym everyday... or even at all! You just need to start doing a low form of cardiovascular activity. Walking a mile or two a day is a great way to get your endorphins (natural chemicals in your body that lift your mood) going. A bonus if you do your exercise outdoors is the sunlight will provide you with a healthy dose of vitamin d, which also helps your mood. Don't feel like you need to try all of these things at once; the beauty of learning how to treat depression naturally is the flexibility natural treatment offers. You can try new things one at a time until you find what works for you, and all of these steps are completely safe. Even simple lifestyle changes can go a long way, and the best part is you will reap the benefits of a healthier lifestyle along with a decrease in depression.

Mental Health

I have recently set up a new practice as a Psychotherapist which led to a discussion with my partner in the practice as to our fees. This in turn led to thoughts about how to value our work. My partner had listened to webinar on marketing that had discussed different types of customers and the importance of targeting one's business to a particular type of client. After this we decided that we were not targeting the budget segment but were most interested in the quality segment. The webinar was a marketing exercise for a marketing workshop that I subsequently attended. At this marketing workshop there was a section on valuing your work. As someone who grew up in a country that had universal health care I had certain beliefs about paying for health services. In my current country (Australia) there were for many years many health services with no fees. These were reinforced when I worked in a public hospital associated clinic where most services were provided without fee. Moving into private practice involved challenging my beliefs. The workshop presenter suggested that most psychologists do not value their services very highly. My thoughts are that for me this was due to these types of formative influences and my own issues around self esteem and self sacrifice. I follow the Schema Therapy model where there are two 'schemas' associated with self esteem, defectiveness and failure. Defectiveness operates at more of an unconscious level whereas people tend to be very aware of their beliefs that they are a failure. I think both of these are a challenge for me and although I have considerable insight into them they still have considerable influence on my feelings and behaviour. Most people in caring professions have a pattern of self sacrifice where they place their needs secondary to their clients. In order to be able to care for others one needs to take care of oneself. If I am tired I do not provide quality therapy. There was some discussion in the workshop of personal factors such as self esteem and self sacrifice and then another exercise. The exercise consisted of thinking about a client with a specific issue and imaging being that client and what their answer would be to "How much would you pay to make this problem go away?" There was discussion of the costs to the client of the problem and then the costs to others in that person's life including their employer or business. A day off work can be critical to some businesses and therefore quite expensive when missed.

Get Stunning Body

A sexy looking stomach is the most sought after look for men and women. You hear so much talk about six pack abs and how to get them. The truth is you have to be at a low body fat percentage to have a six pack. Six pack abs start with a strong core. There are a number of core muscle exercises you can do to achieve a stunning body which includes getting ripped abs. So let's take a look. 1) Plank - There is no better way to build your core strength than using planks. Get in push up position and then hold it for as long as you can. I have heard of people being able to do planks for 10 minutes straight without stopping. That is crazy strong. For newbies start doing planks for at least 1 minute, break for one minute, then do another. Rinse and repeat for as many reps as you can. Eventually you will be able to do 5+ minutes solid without stopping. 2) Hanging Leg Raise - Hang from a chin up bar. Bring your legs up to a 90 degree angle to your body. Remember not to swing your body to gain momentum and to keep your toes pointing up. 3) Twisting Crunch - Better than the regular traditional crunch since it hits all of your abdominal muscles in one exercise. To do a twisting crunch, lie on the floor with your knees facing up with hands behind your head elbows facing out. Bring one elbow up toward the opposite knee to get a full abdominal and oblique contraction. Switch from left arm to right arm. 4) Superman - Lye down on your belly. Fully extend your body with only your stomach touching the ground. Flex your arms, core, and legs. If belly fat is your kryptonite then do supermans to rid yourself of it. 5) Side Plank - Lie on your side in a straight line. One elbow perpendicular to your body and at your shoulder, put opposite hand on your hip. Raise your body up, hold for a second then bring back down. Side planks help to target those hard to get obliques aka love handles. When you have a strong core you will have less injuries, a stronger back, better balance and posture. But of course you will have a nice looking six pack. A stunning body awaits you if you do the core muscle exercises mentioned.

BodyBuilding 3 Mistakes

Building muscle is a timely process. It doesn't happen overnight. Rome was not built in a day, neither is a strong body. Over training can slam the brakes on your muscle-building efforts. Don't let it. Over training is one of the most common bodybuilding mistakes made by newbies and experienced bodybuilders alike. You need to train hard, but not to the point that you need to take a few weeks off because you got an injury from over training. Mistake #1 - Don't Train The Same Muscle Group Every Day - Do you think you are going to get shredded abs doing crunches and other ab exercises every day? Nope. You should only work abs 2 or 3 times a week to see great results. What to do instead: Work a muscle group then let it rest for 24 to 48 hours. If you worked chest and back today, then work triceps and biceps tomorrow, then work chest and back in a couple of days. Give your muscles time to heal and chill. Mistake #2 - Have Training Sessions That Last TooLong - Are you in the gym more than an hour maybe even 2 hours a day? What to do instead:Train 45 minutes to an hour. An hour in the gym is a good amount of time especially if you do it 4 to 5 times a week. You can accomplish a lot in 45 minutes to an hour in the gym. Don't live in the gym, get in there, do what you need to do then go enjoy yourself somewhere else. Mistake #3 -Doing cardio and weight training together - If you feel extra tired when you get done working out it might be because you combined cardio along with weight training to make the workout a little too intense. What to do instead: Do cardio and weight training on different days. Doing cardio a few minutes to get loose and warm up is okay, but doing it at a high intensity level and pumping some heavy iron together can be too much. You can combine cardio and weight training together, but if you do, your workouts should be shorter. You should not go over 30 minutes if you are going to combine the two. If you must do cardio and weight training together then start the workout with weight training and end it with some cardio. Doing a workout that way will increase the burn. You can get the body you want doing the right amount of exercise. But you won't get it with over training. Don't make these common bodybuilding mistakes, instead train at your fitness level. Keeping up with the Jones's is never good, it definitely won't work at the gym.

There is a common mistake made by people that have either never exercised at all or haven't exercised in months or years. The mistake is trying to pick back up where they were before or starting out for the first time with high intensity exercises. This can be the number one reason people injure themselves initially and, become disillusioned physical exercise. Your body has to be brought along slowly when first starting to exercise and of course the older you are the more aware of this you have to become. Start out slowly by starting an exercise program three times a week to begin with. As your body becomes accustomed to the exercises and gets stronger, you will be able to increase your intensity along with the frequency without injuring yourself. 2. Set Some Goals: If you want to be consistent with your exercise routine or any other endevaour in life you need to have a goal to strive for. In fact it would be a big benefit to get someone else involved with you in starting an exercise program to help keep you consistent and accountable to reach your goals that have been set. It can be a goals such as losing 10 pounds or more in the next two months or, being able to walk a mile each morning before work. The important thing is keep the goals simple and achievable at first then as you become stronger and build your stamina you increase those goals. 3. Learn As Much As You Can. Get Fit Just In 3 Steps

Today with medical technology and the advent of new medicines we are living longer than ever before. However, living longer does not necessarily mean you will be living a higher quality of life. To live and enjoy life you have to start with your level of fitness. There are many reasons to improve your fitness, some of you may have personal reasons however, for quality of life, let me cover three reasons why increasing your level of fitness is important. 1. You Reduce Your Levels of Bad Cholesterol. Cholesterol is a substance that is manufactured by the body. Depending on your genes your body may produce more than is recommended or it may produce less. The bottom line is as you age it is important to keep your cholesterol readings in line. There of course is medication that can be taken to help reduce bad cholesterol however the ideal way to cut your bad cholesterol or LDLs and raise the good cholesterol or HDLs is through diet and exercise. Do not rely on medication by itself. Through exercise and proper diet, you increase the good cholesterol that helps in reducing cardiovascular disease and lowering your blood pressure. This is one of the biggest and most important areas you can improve on by working on your level of fitness. 2. You Increase Your Metabolic Rate. Through diet and more importantly exercise, you increase your metabolic rate which in burns more claories and helps you in reducing bodyweight and reducing the amount of body fat you carry. Increasing your meatbolic rate can be done by both cardiovasuclar exercise or weight training. Combining both however is very benficial and is highly recommended. A higher metabolism keeps you tone and reduces the chances of developing chronic diseases by reducing the amount of excess body fat. As you age your metabolism begins to slow down causing an increase in body fat and just making it harder to lose weight overall. By improving your levels of fitness, you speed up your metabolism again. 3. You Increase Your Functional Strength. By working on your fitness you want to be sure you include weight training into your exercise routine. When you have developed a solid weight training routine, you begin to strengthen your muscles which not only will increase your metabolism and help in weight reduction as we discussed earlier but, it gives your more functional strength by being able to complete your daily activities without difficulty due to lack of strength. You increase your muscular endurance and you develop your bodies stamina to give you more energy and live your life with more energy and making your daily activities easier.

How To Lose Your Weight

One of the biggest issues that weight loss seekers face is that they simply cannot stick with a diet that continues to deprive them of their favorite foods for weeks and months on end. This invariably leads to failure in the long run, but is there anything we can do about it? Simply put - you can, yes! If you deprive yourself of all of the foods that you love you will not be in business for long. In fact, you may find it more difficult to lose weight consistently using this practice. However, there is an alternative, and I am going to quickly run you through it right now. Lets take a look. First off, lets quickly consider the hormone at the centre of all of this - leptin. Leptin is basically the overlord of fat loss hormones and, if you are looking to lose weight in a consistent way, it is crucial that you try to maintain a decent concentration of this hormone in your body. The concentration currently in your body will be affected by 2 major things: 1 - Your bodyfat levels 2 - The amount of calories you eat So if you are overweight and eat a lot, you'll have lots of leptin rushing around your system. The reason for this is because the body will want you to lose weight to maintain your health. Now, when you begin to lower your intake of calories (on a diet) you levels of leptin will drop. You will also be buring fat, meaning that your levels will drop even further. When your leptin levels drop like this, it will become harder and harder for you to keep on losing weight. So whats the answer? What we need to do is make sure we bring our leptin levels back up. Thankfully, this can be done fast - while it may take 6 or so days for your leptin levels to go down by about 50%, it only takes about half a day to a day for these levels to get back up again. The way in which we bring these levels back up will be music to the ears of any deprivation dieter! The solution is simply to eat. Lots! Indulge in your forbidden diet foods and you'll see your calorie levels, and leptin levels, spike. Do this for an entire day, over about 12 hours, and you will be able to benefit for the rest of the week by putting your body back into a fat burning zone, brough about by the re-appearance of the leptin. Not only will this give you a break from your diet but it will also keep you focused and motivated as well. So, you see, you don't have to worry about depriving yourself forver. All you need to do is be strict through the week, and then pick a day every so often where you will be able to 'cheat' your way to success. Brilliant!

Solutions For Plateus

Hey everyone, today this article provides an explanation on how to avoid plateauing when training for a triathlon. I can remember many times in my life that I would work out on a consistent basis but then eventually I would just flatten out and my results weren't showing. It happened when I would go running and my maximum distance wasn't going up and also when I was lifting weights and the amount I could lift was just staying the same. It got to a point where I was so frustrated that I wanted to quit because one of the main reasons I work out is to get results. There are a couple parts of exercising that many people don't know about and this lack of knowledge can lead to this "stand-still" that I came to. Rest: First I would like to talk about resting. I talk about this a couple times in my blog because it is SO IMPORTANT. Many people think that the more you workout, the better it is for you. This can potentially hurt your body if you don't allow it ample time to heal and let the muscles repair. Muscles repair themselves when you sleep mostly so getting a good night sleep can be essential. Rest can also allow you to work even harder when you are exercising which can help your results in the future. Give your body a break and don't overwork yourself too much! Diet: I have heard many times in my life that you can work out 7 days a week, but if you don't provide your body with the essential nutrients and put bad things into your body, the results wont come. When you run you are burning carbs and after lifting your body uses protein to rebuild your muscles. Your body needs certain nutrients to refuel and fuel itself and if you are not providing your body with them than you will stay the same or possible make yourself even worse. Eating healthy has so many benefits that it should not be looked over. If you are going to dedicate so much time into working out, don't just tarnish all your hard work because you have that craving for ice cream and fast food. Give your body what it needs and deserves and it will start to change for the better! Switch up your routine: This point is something that I struggled with the most. For two years I was going to the gym and doing the same routine over and over and over. My body became so accustomed to the routine that it only allowed me to lift the same amount of weight each time. Are bodies are smarter than you think! You have to confuse your body so it doesn't get too used to certain exercises and a way you can do this is by switching up your routine. Don't have the same schedule every week and only work certain muscles certain days. Go swimming instead of running so you can use muscles that you don't usually use. Use a different machine that you haven't used before so your body doesn't use the same muscles it always does and then you can work your other muscles. Results will start to come and slowly but surely you will be able to lift more and more weight. We spend too much time on our bodies to be stuck with the same results over and over. Prioritize: This is an area where I struggled with for a while. I wanted to stay lean while building muscle and because of that my results were completely slowed. I would lift weights but then I would do a bunch of cardio that would burn all the nutrients that my muscles needed. My body was deprived of what it needed to repair because I would run so often. You need to decide what you really want and make a balanced routine that wont stunt the growth of what your goals are. Sports: This has a little to do with switching up your routine. For me in college, there are always opportunities for me to partake in activities such as basketball, tennis, and baseball, among other things. These sports may seen like fun to me, but at the same time I am burning calories and using muscles that I don't usually use. By doing something that I enjoy doing with friends I can make it into a workout where I am helping my body while at the same time helping my mind. Find something that you are interested in and that you enjoy, there are so many options. Maybe go randomly take a kid boxing class or a water aerobics class. Any physical activity is good activity! The small things: Even simple things can work towards your overall progress. Instead of taking the elevator to your office or your home, take the stairs. Instead of driving to the store take a run or a bike ride. All these little opportunities to exercise are commonly overlooked but they can be turned into something positive. These shorts but frequent trips can ad up in the long run and can help you achieve the goals that you have been waiting for! These few couples are just some things you can keep in mind when you are training. It happened in my life so many times when I would put so much time into my workouts but I would overexert myself to the point where results were never going to happen. You don't have to dread going to the gym every day if you find something that you enjoy doing and don't think of is as working out. Stay focused and don't give up when you don't get the results you want right off the bat. Each time I would workout, I would wake up in the morning and expect to see something different in the mirror but I didn't realize a very important thing, results don't happen over night! Stick with it and don't get frustrated. If you treat your body with respect and give it what it needs while maintaining a solid workout routine, results will come!

Quit Smoking

Hypnotherapy has long been proven to be an effective cure for a variety of health problems. It is a common treatment for psychiatric conditions such as phobias, anxiety, and panic disorders. It is also quite helpful in overcoming bad habits, as in the case of smokers, alcoholics, and drug abusers. It has the ability to improve a person's mental and overall health by positively affecting his self-esteem, determination, temper, and mood. This wondrous effect of hypnosis is changing lives for the better all over the world. It has helped individuals realize their full human potential hence giving them better control over their lives. If you wish to live a long, healthy life, you must once and for all get rid of any habits that can put you in a bad shape. Or if you're struggling with a bad habit, you may want to see a therapist and learn about the various hypnotherapy methods that can work for you. With their patient's best interest at heart, these professionals can provide all the support and security you will need while on treatment. With the use of modern and traditional hypnosis techniques, you will eventually learn to balance your internal energy and alter your mental programming. It goes without saying that hypnosis is at the very core of hypnotherapy. It's an ordinary human experience that we undergo on a daily basis, which when properly utilized, can have extraordinary effects. Nowadays, it has become especially popular for its efficiency against nicotine addiction. Upon the completion of the treatment, the patient will have lost all desire to smoke. In certain cases, the patient's outlook on smoking will be changed so drastically that he won't only lose his appetite for cigarettes, he may actually dread them - and well, those pesky little sticks deserve no less. So, good riddance and good health! During the treatment, the patient is put under a controlled state of mind. This allows the therapist to tap into the subconscious and implant suggestions for the subject to willingly follow. Over the course of the treatment, the patient will gradually realize his power and control over his bad habit, also gradually making it easy to quit. Before he knows it, it's been a month since the last time he smoked. What's even more amazing is that that's all it takes: by simply surviving the first month, a patient can actually rid himself of smoking for good!

Why Men Should Wear Stockings Compression ??

Compression stockings are worn over the legs. They provide pressure and support that helps to maintain good circulation and reduce swelling. The socks also provide support for the muscles and tendons in the joints. Men often become aware of these garments because of an injury or medical problem. The reality is that there are many situations where men benefit from wearing compression stockings on a daily basis. People who have certain pre-existing medical conditions should consult a doctor before using the socks on a long-term basis to ensure that they don't interfere with other treatments or medications. Regular Inactivity A very common reason that men should consider wearing compression stockings is inactivity. Inactivity is several hours every day when the legs and feet are in a static position because of a job or travel. The inactivity causes the blood in the body to start to settle in the veins of the legs. This prevents the blood from traveling back to the heart to be resupplied with oxygen that is needed by the organs and tissue in the body. Months or years of daily inactivity could result in problems like varicose veins, painful swelling and other issues. Compression stockings help to prevent inactivity from having serious side effects by forcing the blood out of the legs and back into normal circulation. Circulatory Conditions Men who have certain types of conditions such as diabetes can find relief during the day by wearing compression stockings. Any condition that results in edema of the legs or other types of inflammation will respond to the increase in pressure. Fluids that are collecting in the veins or tissue in the leg will be forced upwards because of the garments. This reduces the actual swelling, improves circulation and allows the body to function normally. The compression stockings also keep the legs free from swelling when used every day. The garments should be only one part of a larger treatment plan for chronic conditions. Intense Exercise Men who are performing intense exercise or playing very demanding sports can benefit from compression stockings. Just as the garments improve circulation during periods of inactivity, they also improve blood flow during physical activities. The increased circulation keeps the muscles oxygenated and removes waste substances that could cause cramping or pain. This is useful for men who are biking or running for many hours at a time. Compression stockings are also useful during recovery. They help to reduce swelling and inflammation that occur in the muscles once the activity has stopped. The pressure reduces pain and allows the area to recover faster.

The Good Effect Of Natyral Food

Proper formation of both internal and external body organs (skin, eyes, liver, heart, spinal cord, brain structure etc.) requires healthy dietary habits from the mother. For people in the early stage of development (infants, toddlers, and children), a healthy diet is especially essential for their brain development and early and later learning. Infants whose mothers did not eat a healthy diet during gestation may have poor brain development and may even be susceptible to having learning disability compared with infants whose mothers ate healthy and nutritious diet. Proper dieting is necessary to maintain growth and development of people of all ages. Quite often, children (and even adults) injure themselves. The rate at which the wound heals and whether or not it heals depends on the health of the body. If the body does not receive a healthy diet, it may have a weakened defense mechanism. As a result, a wound may not heal at a fast rate. Good diet may go a long way to help prevent people's risk of health diseases. This is because at every stage of development, little or no organisms lie dormant organisms (because a healthy diet helps the body's defense mechanisms to kill both dormant and active organisms). In order to keep track of their food habits, people can develop a diet record. Diet record can inform and advise them about how to improve diet. This is because it informs them about the kinds of foods that they frequently consuming; so they can make plans to balance the foods that they have been eating frequently with other foods containing essential nutrients. The food that one consumes plays a significant role in the overall fitness of the body. Some may decrease your weight while others (foods that contain significant amount fatty acids, for example) may increase it. Therefore, a healthy diet plan can help control one's weight and prevent obesity. Vitamins should be an important part of a healthy diet. Some foods contain a lot of energy but are not nutritious. Others are very nutritious but do not contain a lot of energy. Therefore, in planning your diet, it is essential that you find the balance between nutrition and energy. While many consume food because they are hungry, others consume food for a variety of reasons. Food also has a social aspect to it. Some people consume food because they have a cultural and social relationship to the food. Others eat food because of its taste (that is, it tastes good). Whatever the motive may be, you should try to strike a balance between the health aspect of food and the social aspect. The health aspect should be of a high priority because our bodies need to be sustained before we can engage in social activities. Healthy and Nutritious diet can also help you decrease your probability for health problems. You have to be determined and focused to achieve your aim of decreasing your risk of health problems by eating a healthy diet.

How to Get Away Knee Pain

Knee pain affects many people around the world and is generally caused by wear and tear, injury and even flat feet, which is why the knee support was invented and has proven to be an effective comforter. The knee is a hinge joint and is held by the ACL, PCL, MCL and LCL. Sudden pain in one of the knees is usually the result of over using the knee or suddenly injuring it. When that happens the most common symptoms are aching pain, burning sensation, limited range of motion, swelling, sharp pain this is depends whether you have had an injury or you have been affected by other internal factors such as osteoarthritis. There are other types of knee pain which can be eased through the use of knee supports and these include: Anterior Knee Pain Syndrome - this is not fully understood, but it is usually made worse by sitting for prolonged periods or by climbing stairs. Damage to the menisci - these cushion the bones, acting as shock absorbers. The menisci can become worn as you get older, and is the most common reason for knee pain in middle-aged people. A meniscus can also be torn after suddenly twisting the knee joint, resulting in pain, swelling and locking of the knee. These symptoms may settle down without treatment, although an operation is sometimes needed to repair the torn pad of tissue. Tendonitis Overusing - or injuring the tendon that connects the kneecap to the shin bone can lead to patellar tendonitis it can be brought on by jumping activities such as basketball or volleyball. The area may be swollen, red and warm. Osgood Schlatter's Disease - this results in swelling and tenderness over the bony bump just below the kneecap. This is a common cause of knee pain and swelling in teenagers, particularly teenage boys who sprain or overuse their thigh muscles when playing football or other sports. Flat Feet - this can cause excess pressure on your knee due to your feet rolling in whilst walking which in turn puts excess pressure on the knee. This can cause pain on the inside and outside of the knee. A knee support is particularly effective in this case.

Keep Your Body Hot

We hear people all the time blame their weight-gain on their slow metabolism. Or we are told to eat several times per day to keep our metabolism moving, but if we already have weight to lose, isn't that counter-intuitive? Let's take a look into what exactly metabolism is, how is works, and what we can do to keep it working to our advantage. I'm going to put my RN hat on for a moment so hang tight. Metabolism is the process that takes everything that we eat/drink and converts it into energy for our body to use. Our body uses this energy whether we are awake or asleep. It's a complex system that is different for everyone based on age, sex, and body composition (how much muscle and fat that you have.) When we say we've burned X amount of calories, we are talking about our metabolism and energy. Our basal metabolic rate (BMR) is the amount of calories that our body uses to survive in a healthy manner at rest. This includes things that we don't have to think about: circulation, breathing, repair of tissues, etc. We can thank our BMR for about 60-75% of the calories that we burn daily. The rest of the calories burned depends on our physical activity and how well our body processes food. Fact. One pound of muscle burns approximately 10-60 calories per day. The number varies per person. One pound of fat burns approximately 1-3 calories per day. Fact. People who have more muscle mass burn more calories per day even when at rest. Fact. Metabolism can be altered regardless of age. Fact. Physical activity is the one variable that is most easily changed. Most weight gain occurs because we ingest more calories than we burn, so common sense would mean that if we simply eat fewer calories, we'd lose weight, right? Well, not so fast. When we go on low-calorie diets or skip meals and don't eat enough calories to maintain our BMR, we are actually slowing our metabolism down. Our body is smart. It automatically thinks STARVATION, CONSERVATION, MUST SURVIVE. To protect itself to survive, body processes (ie metabolism) slow down. Even worse, our body begins to burn our own muscle for the necessary calories (yes this will show as a weight-loss on the scale but at what expense?) When our metabolism slows down, it suddenly becomes easier to eat more calories than we burn. Result? Weight-gain over time, even though we didn't mean to, and the weight gain is fat, which burns less than muscle. In essence, we've just replaced muscle with fat. As a quick side note, let me add that yes, there are medical conditions that will affect metabolism and must be dealt with under a physician's care. The vast majority of people, however, do not fall into this category. OK, so now that we've had a quick one-minute anatomy & physiology lesson, what can we do to change our metabolism? I'm going to give you four simple steps that work. 1. Eat 5-6 small meals per day. Have you ever been camping and sat around a campfire? If so, you'll remember that you must continue to add kindling to the fire so it doesn't burn out. We need to think of our metabolism as a fire. Eating small, frequent meals keeps our metabolism burning. Note: we must choose healthy foods for these meals. If our frequent meals consist of fat and sodium-laden, nutritional-void items, we've missed the mark entirely. If you struggle with eating that often due to work, plan ahead for portable, healthy snack foods including protein bars & Shakeology. 2. Add in weight training 3 times per week. Remember the above fact? Muscle burns more than fat. Adding more muscle to our body via weight training means less fat, a tighter body, and smaller clothing sizes. Yea, I could live with that. 3. Do aerobic exercise 5-6 times per week. Although cardio doesn't really help us build our large muscle groups, it does rev up our metabolism potentially for hours afterwards! Faster metabolism means more calories burned. 4. Drink enough water. Even being mildly dehydrated can slow your metabolism. Our body needs water to process calories into energy. Drink up! In short, don't allow yourself to fall into victim-mode, believe the fallacy that you have a slow metabolism, and think that you can't do something about it. Also don't sabotage yourself by unwittingly slowing your metabolism down by low-calorie diets. If you will commit to eating 5-6 nutritious, small meals per day, adding in weight training and cardio exercise, and drinking enough water, you CAN make positive changes. I know you can, and I believe in you.

However, not everyone is able to drink cow milk; some people are allergic to it. In this case, you can find other replacement foods, such as soybean milk; it also contains calcium and protein. By drinking it, you can gain the equivalent elements from soybean milk as are in milk.
Other foods that can help you grow taller
Apart from milk and soybean milk, what other foods can you eat to gain the same effect? In order to grow taller, the main elements should be Calcium and Vitamin D. If you don't like the flavour of either milk or soybean milk, you can eat cereal and take Vitamin D pills or fish oil capsules plus Vitamin D pills. Many foods contain both Calcium and Vitamin D; you are not tied to one kind of food. Keep in mind that you not only eat but also need to spend time on some outdoor exercises to obtain sunlight, which helps your body convert those foods into nutrients for your bloodstream.

Choosing A Dentist

You have a toothache and need a dentist. Depending on the severity of your condition, you may not be happy to wait. That's when you need to know how to choose the right dental care provider for your needs. You want this person to be able to help you, but you also want to find someone that you can rely on for all of your dental needs in the years to come. With just a phone call between you and the provider, how can you know if this provider is one that you should be working with or one you should avoid? Customer Service Goes a Long Way A good place to start is with the level of customer service you get from the dentist or his or her staff. If you are in pain and need to be seen that date, does the facility make time for you or is it unable to do so for a day or so? The problem is that you don't want to feel as though your problem isn't a problem-enough to warrant squeezing you in. You also want to consider how friendly the staff is. Are they willing to help you? Ask About Treatment Options Before you make a commitment to go to any provider, it is a good idea to ask about the options available to you. Does the company offer pain medication onsite and for you to take home? If you need a root canal or an extraction, can they do it right then? What if you have a chipped tooth? Can they handle the right problem right away, or will you just be going in for a consultation? Know this information by asking. You want a provider that can get you in and get you treated and on your way immediately. Discuss Financing Upfront For some people, the reason they do not visit the dentist often enough is due to a financial limitation. Not everyone has dental insurance and some of these treatments can be expensive. Find out if the provider offers financing and what steps you have to take to get it. You also want to find out what type of cost you are looking at for the treatment you need. The right provider will give you this information without any hesitation or at least provide a ballpark figure. A dentist is a type of provider you simply need to see. Sometimes, you just do not have time to actually meet with the provider and find out if you like him or her before you need care. That's why using the phone and asking questions can help you to determine if the provider is one that's right for your needs.

Laser Therapy Trick

Several ailments send us to the chiropractor--everything from back pain to arthritis to a muscle strain. Alignments can cure some issues, while others are not affected by alignments. What some people need is more extensive therapy to cure the bigger issue. In recent years, therapy by lasers has grown and technology has evolved. Doctors and chiropractors alike are integrating lasers more into treatment because they prove to be effective and instantaneous. In the chiropractic world, cold laser therapy has taken off because it provides non-invasive treatment to a multitude of issues. Since it has gained so much popularity among chiropractors, it's important to note what exactly it does for patients. Cold laser therapy targets dead or irritated cells within the body. These cells may be located in muscles, bones, tissues, or ligaments. In each of these areas, cells need to be revived so the body can become healthy again. Lasers enter the body through light wavelengths, which provide energy for the cells. Once cells are targeted and light penetrates cells, they become energized and are now able to return to a healthy state. So, is it a quick, one time fix? No, therapies are never a quick fix. To get the most from a therapy, you need to have several treatments for the therapy to help the body regain strength and return to a healthy state. Some may require more treatments than others, but it depends on the severity of the issue. Cold laser therapy will prove effective over time, so make sure you provide the necessary time to receive treatment. The benefit of cold laser therapy is that it's proven to heal damaged parts of the body. Not only does it heal the body, but it doesn't require any intensive recovery that surgery would. Patients can come get their treatment, improve over time and maintain their lives. It's not invasive and it doesn't take away from the patient. It only provides the health they need. Surgery costs can also skyrocket to high prices, which no one is ready to pay. The difference with cold laser therapy is that it's affordable, which is a great alternative to surgery. Also, you can check with your insurance provider to see if they can cover any of the costs. Even if they don't cover all of the costs, they might cover a few, which will keep you from paying more than you should. It's time to discover the relief and health cold laser therapy can bring. Cold laser therapy is the treatment people need for several ailments. Don't let pain or other issues keep you from living the life you want. Get treatment and get back to your life.

How To Get Away From Stress

Stress can often consume us and these few tips can help you manage that! So with the semester winding down, stress levels are usually raised very high for everyone. When stress comes we tend to turn to bad things in like such as junk food, alcohol, and avoiding the important things that have to get done, or at least that's what I do. You always see everyone freaking out over classes or presentations and it really isn't good for our health. Even today I had a presentation and although it wasn't that big of one, the group and presentation itself made me very stressed at it changed by body. Last night I barely got any sleep because I was tossing and turning over the stress that this project gave me. My group members were slacking and I was worried that it wouldn't all get done on time or come together when it needed to. Because of this I went to sleep late, and had to wake up hours earlier than I usually do to compile this project. All day I have had a headache and just haven't felt like myself. I have been irritable and my body is aching. Stress can do crazy things to your body and isn't something that we should take lightly. We should all learn how to manage our stress better because the impact on our body is so unhealthy and is no fun. By taking time out of our day and relaxing we can lower these stress levels and can maintain our bodies health. No matter what you are dealing with there is no reason to stress to much because itll pass and well all do great. Here are some methods that help me manage my stress, and I think they can help you: Sleep - I can tell you this from first hand experience, if you don't get enough sleep, it will throw everything off. No getting enough sleep can make you more irritable throughout the day among other things, and no one enjoys an irritable person. Not sleeping also gets us tired throughout the day. Being tired can lead to many things including missing workouts. When we miss workouts it puts a hamper in our training and can lead to worse things. When we are tired, we don't care about what we eat and that leads to my next point. Food - Eating junk food doesn't solve anything, no matter how much people think it does. Eating bad food that tastes good may make us feel good in that moment, but it is so bad for our bodies. This food makes us feel bad and can even lead to stress and keep the cycle going. If we eat healthy food it can reduce stress levels multiple ways. Eating healthy makes us feel healthy which makes us feel good about ourselves. Eating healthy also gives us the vitamins and nutrients our body needs to maintain its healthy self and a healthy body is a healthy you. Exercise - Nothing relieves stress like hitting the weights. Whether it is stress from anger or from school, exercising can clear our minds and help us relax. Exercising gives us a natural high that is great for us. It gives us energy and makes us feel good just like eating healthy. Procrastination - nothing is more stressful than waiting until the last second to finish something. With most of us students semesters winding down there will be many papers and presentations due. Starting these assignments early can prevent future unnecessary stress. Prioritize your life and realize what is more important. At this moment, homework is more important than TV and video games. School is our future and we need to take that seriously. Take time for yourself - Alone time can work wonders and is something that I rarely get. I am always around people whether its in class or at my apartment. Some time to ourselves can help us get a clear head and reflect on everything we have to do. Sometimes we get so caught up in life that we miss things that we are supposed to do. Go into your room and turn everything off. I recently realized that about 95% of my day I am looking at a screen of some sort. This cant be good for our eyes let alone our brains. By turning everything off we can actually get some peace and quiet. Just relax and take deep breaths and reflect on everything you need to. Don't worry - Worry does no good for us. We have the opportunity to make our future and there is no reason for worry. If something is due, do it. If we don't like our look, workout. We have the chance to change our lives and we often times forget that and instead be lazy and just wish we could be better or different. Worrying isn't good for anyone health and only leads to worse things. I know that I am a hypochondriac and all I do is worry and as hard as it is I realize that it is so bad for me. DON'T WORRY, everything will workout. The new year is coming and that is a great opportunity to make some new life goals. Promise yourself that you will workout more or change your diet, WE HAVE THE CHANCE TO CHANGE OUR FUTURES. Lets all stay motivated and remember what is important in our lives. Health is one of our main concerns in life and is something that we can control to an extent. Give your body what it needs to thrive and don't let stress overtake you. Having a healthy mind can lead to a healthy body and that is something that we should all strive for. Following these steps can help you reduce and maintain stress and I know that they helped me.
